Recipe: Holiday Pretzel Treats.

16 Dec

On Wednesday, I had the pleasure of making my favorite holiday treat, and I thought I’d share the recipe with all of you. Granted, this is if you need something sweet to add as a part of your holiday festivities, but it can also be eaten as just a simple snack. Also, these are great for small gifts for friends or neighbors.

What You Need:

  • Bite-sized waffle shaped pretzels (1  or 2 bags)
  • Hershey’s Kisses (1 bag…or 2 if you’re making gifts as well as having some for yourself)
  • Red and green M&Ms (1 bag. Gotta make it festive! Also, brown and orange M&Ms could be substituted to have for Thanksgiving)

How To Make Them:

  • Heat oven to 170 F. Set a number of waffle shaped pretzels (one for each treat) in a single layer on a cookie sheet. Then top each pretzel with an unwrapped Hershey’s kiss.
  • Bake for 4 to 6 minutes (or until the chocolate is soft enough to have an M&M pressed into it. Remove the cookie sheet from the oven and quickly press M&Ms into the center of each Hershey’s kiss (it’s important to put the M&Ms on right after the pretzels are taken from the oven so the chocolate doesn’t become hard again).
  • Allow the treats to cool for a minute or 2, and then place them in the fridge or freezer for about 5 to 10 minutes to allow them to harden.
  • (For Gifts) Then place treats in a clear plastic bag with a red or green ribbon tied around it. And don’t forget to enjoy some for yourself too!

*Sidenote: These treats are also great to make with kids since it’s easy and fun!

Also, if you make these let me know how you like them, and feel free to share some of your favorite holiday recipes too!

I’ve made those before, but with Rolo candies instead of Kisses. I think I’d prefer the Kisses since I’m not much of caramel fan…

I like to make these too!! But I make them with heart-shaped pretzels, Rolos or Kisses with caramel inside, and instead of an M&M on top, I use a pecan 🙂 Tastes just like a turtle!! And I love that you can make a ton of them at one time. The worst part is unwrapping all of the kisses. Take care, Amelia 🙂
